LeakTheAnalyst Threat Group Data Leak UK Military Ministry of Defense Dark Web Forum

Security experts have recently discovered that the LeakTheAnalyst threat group had allegedly leaked the UK military sector’s data. In a tweet, a researcher shared some screenshots regarding the issue, including a statement from the threat group, a countdown until they release the alleged data leak against the UK military sector and a snippet of the said leaked data.

Upon further investigation, our researchers found out that LeakTheAnalyst has released its statement regarding this narrative on TextBin posted last January 26. The statement revealed the details about the threat group’s alleged data to be leaked against its targets, including the UK’s Ministry of Defence, Rafael Israeli defence technology company, Thales Group, TSG Systems, and a lot more large institutions.

LeakTheAnalyst also explained that the leak is separated into two main parts – “LDAP Infrastructure” and “Big sample of Critical UK Ground-Based Air Defense” – which are also divided into sub-parts that detail the content of what the two main parts of the said leak will be consisted of. The threat group also noted that all documents and data are for sale, amounting to 99.99BTC.

Nonetheless, there is no further update regarding the alleged data leak of the LeakTheAnalyst threat group aside from their recent statement.

In related news, a dark web forum profile of LeakTheAnalyst had been permanently banned due to suspicious account activity. Many of the account’s commenters have expressed their dissatisfaction with the threat group, which led to a negative reputation on the forum site.

The threat group’s last post on the dark web forum revealed that Twitter had banned hashtags associated with them, such as #LeakTheAnalyst and #HackBack. The group seemed taken aback by Twitter’s move, hence, forcing them to leak Twitter accounts and passwords of what they called “special people.” However, those who downloaded the said leak are disappointed after realising that it only contained an unusable combolist text file.

AgainstTheWest, a separate threat group, has mocked LeakTheAnalyst on a comment thread, specifying that what they did is not a data breach and that they are only claiming these alleged leaks for clout and fame. A lot of other people on the comment thread had stated the same observations against LeakTheAnalyst, as most of them taunted the threat group with disbelief.

Our security experts will continue to probe the report until further updates have been developed.
