Guacamaya Hacktivists Exposed Data AFP Australian Federal Police Secret Agents

The Guacamaya hacktivists have uncovered the identity of numerous secret agents that work for the Australian Federal Police (AFP). The data leak incident occurred after the hackers stole innumerable documents from the Columbian government.

Based on reports, the data leak includes over five terabytes of critical and classified data, such as documents, emails, and AFP agents’ methods and operations. Some of the identified operations were to stop drug cartels that operate and import contraband in Australia.

In addition, some of the exposed data include more than 30 AFP operations, which some of which are still ongoing. There are also surveillance reports from agents, payroll information, and phone tap recordings from Columbian officers, which are critical for secret operations.

The Guacamaya hacktivists may have also affected other countries besides Australia.

According to researchers, the AFP is not the sole law enforcement agency affected by the Guacamaya hacktivist’s attacks since other countries also work with the Colombian government in fighting drug operations.

The AFP has confirmed the incident and stated that they are concerned with the potential breaches in their operational security. Fortunately, the law enforcement agency revealed that they are currently partnering with some affected regions to lessen any possible threats to the people.

The Guacamaya hacktivist group describes itself as an entity that fights against corrupt governments in the Latin American region. The group’s most recent campaign is the attacks against several states in Latin America, allegedly corrupt authorities, and military operations. A whistleblower news website shared the stolen data from the recent attacks.

The identified victims of the Guacamaya attack are the Joint Command of the Armed Forces of Peru, the Secretariat of National Defense of Mexico, the Chilean Armed Forces, the Peruvian Army, the National Civil Police of El Salvador, the General Command of the Military Forces of Colombia, and the Armed Forces of El Salvador.

The campaign that impacted the AFP was the attack against the Office of the Attorney General of Colombia. This entity is the AFP partner that allowed the authorities to run undercover operations in Australia to fight drug importation and traffic within the country.
