Our researchers have observed that the popular hacker forum and underground marketplace, RaidForums, has been offline as of 1 AM UTC of February 8th. It is still unknown if the website is undergoing some internal issues at the moment – or will be down for good – since its administrators have yet to disclose any information about the site being offline.
The dark web marketplace has been linked to many cybercrime incidents ever since. It has been a popular underground market for stolen victims’ databases acquired from vulnerability exploits, data breaches, phishing attacks, and more for many years.
With approximately 20,000 regular active users, many threat actors gather in this dark web forum site to join discussions and buy and sell stolen goods.
Upon checking RaidForums’ website, it appears that its main webpage is now accessible as usual, and users can also enter some of its surface pages, such as ‘General’ and ‘Social Media.’ In the earlier hours since the site has been down, even its main pages have been inaccessible for users; thus, being able to enter some pages now might mean that its admins are working out the issue.
Nonetheless, entering some discussion threads still lead users into a MyBB SQL error page stating that an internal error has occurred and cannot allow users to access certain RaidForums pages.
MyBB is a free and open-source discussion software that supports thousands of communities, such as RaidForums, across the web. It has been roughly a day since the MyBB error page appears within some of the underground marketplace’s web pages. Some users have also taken it to the Twitter platform to report the situation.
As of writing, there are no statements yet from the side of RaidForums whether their servers are undergoing internal issues or system maintenance. The underground marketplace must have already been aware of the situation and working on it internally.
Researchers from iZOOlogic are continuously on the lookout for updates within cyberspace, including the RaidForums incident, and will keep everyone posted.
