SBU Hacker Aiding Russian Invaders Ukrainian Security Service

The Ukrainian Security Service, known as SBU, reported that they arrested a hacker who offered the Russian invaders technical assistance. SBU discovered that the hacker had endorsed communication services to the Russian military troops inside the Ukrainian territory during the ongoing geopolitical crisis in the region.

The undisclosed hacker has sent text messages to Ukrainian officials proposing that they should surrender and join Russia. However, the Ukrainian government has accused the suspect of aiding the Russians by redirecting phone calls of the invaders to the mobile phones of Russian troops that are already inside Ukraine.

The SBU added that the Russian invaders conducted thousands of phone calls through the hacker in just a single day and that the phone calls were from the top officials and leaders of the invading army. Moreover, the agency confiscated the equipment used by the hacker to execute its operation.

The hacker also allegedly helped the Russian forces relay commands and instructions to a different group in separate locations of Ukraine. This discovery implies that the hacker has supported the Russian government route phone calls and pass orders to its military forces.

According to the announcement made by SBU, the hacker will be accountable for the betrayal he made to his country since his actions have impacted and killed most of his fellow citizens.

Ukraine had recently received a new data-wiping threat called CaddyWiper when the hacker was arrested, which exposes the Ukrainian government to simultaneous problems. Researchers also confirmed that the HermeticWiper and IsaacWiper were aiding the Russian government to invade Ukraine last month.

In separate news, a researcher reported that cyberattacks had affected broadband satellite access in Ukraine last week. The digital disruption has impacted modems that are part of Ukraine’s communication means.

The current Russia-Ukraine conflict has developed some sort of cyberspace war since both sides have their allies. The Anonymous hacktivist group has recently sided with Ukraine and conducted its campaign against Russia. However, it is more likely that Russia has more cyberspace allies than Ukraine.
